2011 Broken Earth Limited Release Petite Sirah
Petite Sirah is one of the original varietals of Paso Robles and was planted on our estate in 1977. This varietal is a natural hybrid from the parent stock Peloursin and Syrah discovered in the 1860s by French botanist François Durif – the name (Durif) by which it is known world-wide. The well-draining hillside soil has proven perfect in restraining this typically powerful wine, and in-turn has produced a wine of elegance.
This variety is synonymous with intensity of color, tannin and dense fruit and our wine exhibits these traits with the added benefit of refinement. Rich brambly fruits on the nose lead into luscious dark fruits on the palate. The subtle oak has combined with blackberry fruits to produce vanilla bean and roasted coffee flavors.
This is our first release of Petite Sirah and based on the quality of the 2011 vintage and those wines still maturing in oak there will be many more to come.
