El Pasado, meaning “the past” in Spanish has been crafted to honor and continue the legacy of our vineyard, Rancho Tierra Rejada. Originally planted in 1973, our vineyard is one of the oldest commercial vineyards in Paso Robles. The meticulous planning and development it took decades ago is a testament to the foresight of its founders.
This is a very solid, fruit forward blend with many different components. The harvest dates of the fruit were all on different days between August 2017 and October 2017. Clos yeast was used to inoculate all varietals in this wine. The components went through fermentation separately and were later combined and blended before and after our move to our new production location in 2019. Very little of the components have been aged in oak barrels and the components that saw some barrel aging were in neutral oak barriques. The rest has been aged in stainless steel tanks.
El Pasado is a traditional blend of Grenache (44%), Syrah (38%) and Petit Sirah (18%).
