2012 Quadrant CDR - Rhône blend
Paso Robles is emerging as a region with the ability to produce outstanding red blends. The styles of both the Rhône region and Bordeaux are equally successful. The Quadrant CdR is a blend of four varieties typically used in the Rhône region of France. It has an abundance of blackberries on the nose with hints of spice and a background of subtle, spicy oak.
It has a generous, warming palate with great length of flavor and obvious tannins. The dark fruits ‘explode’ on the palate with wonderful texture and soft acidity. Each of the three red varietals contributed their particular fruit ‘marker’ to the blend and the Viognier is a result of co-fermenting the white grapes with Syrah. This adds far more texture and substance to the wine, drawing the fruit profiles out more as well.
The vast array of flavors sees this wine as the perfect companion to a very wide selection of dishes and food styles. Equally, it presents as an approachable beverage by itself.
