2014 Broken Earth Vineyard Select Riesling
The Paso Robles region is very unique in that it has the ability to fully ripen a wide array of varieties. It is essentially a warmer climate growing area that can exclude the feasibility of some grape varieties. Riesling is one of these varieties. It is best by far in areas of cool climate growing conditions. Riesling is also a very popular variety and to this end we have sourced fruit from one of the USA’s best regions for this style, the Columbia Valley in WA. After carefully reviewing a number of options we selected this particular parcel and are very excited about it.
The wine has a floral, perfumed bouquet with a hint of citrus and green melon. It presents with a character akin to elderberry with the perfume lift of the nose carrying through the palate. There is great length of flavour and the naturally occurring residual sugar is beautifully matched with balancing acidity. This is a wine that will appeal to many different palates and may even surprise some ‘die-hard’ red
Drink well chilled and take the opportunity to try this with spicy foods of all types.
