This is a Mistella style (fortified grape juice) made from our estate Black Muscat grapes. It is quite pungent on the nose, very floral with hints of lychee. The juice itself has not been fermented so it is very sweet but has 16.5% alcohol due to the addition of a fortifying spirit. We use Hi-proof spirit that is normally around 96.5% alcohol and is distilled from wine/grapes. It is sourced from the Central Valley and it is used because it is neutral and won’t influence the fruit which balances that sweetness nicely. It has a pale apricot color and would suit anything from fresh fruit and berries to anything with sugar syrup or sugar glaze such as Meyer lemon pound cake or mixed berry tarts. This is a chance to be daring!
